A Reassuring Smile — A Worthy Cause!

A Reassuring Smile

A smile is like a rainbow glowing in the sky
Announcing rain is over! No need to weep and sigh.
So give a reassuring smile to someone in distress.
You may be planting a seed of hope in a very troubled breast.
And if, by love and prayer, you tend this very tender shoot,
Some day you’ll find a full grown tree bearing luscious fruit. —  Helen Neimy

Well, we survived our Cake Tasting Event another year and are almost back to normal, if there is such a thing. My sister and I would like to thank all of our supporters from last year and our new found friends and supporters this year. We were able to raise over $1800 last year to benefit “Relay For Life” and were striving to do more this year, but by it being such a nasty, wet day, I’m sure a lot of people who had planned to come, just couldn’t make it. Nonetheless, with your purchases of cake slices, whole cakes, and donations, we did very well.

My sister, Ellen, and I sponsor this Event each year to honor our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Mother-In-Law (pictured above), who lost her battle with Pancreatic Cancer  two years ago. Those of you who have witnessed loved ones and friends who have survived and those who have lost their battle, certainly understand why we have to put forth every effort to raise money to find a cure.

We are still taking donations up until the last week in May. Our “Relay For Life” Walk is the 1st week in June in Powhatan, VA.  Go to my Events tab and under the Cake Tasting Event there is a donation button. This will link you to PayPal, a safe and secure site. You do not have to be a member to make a donation. Remember that Every dollar gained is a dollar more to finding a cure for this dreadful disease — Cancer.

We would also like to thank all of our family and close friends for their patience and for helping us with everything from selling tickets, placing flyers, taking orders, filling orders and all of the other things that needed to be done to make the Event a success.

We had two donations for raffles — Tara, who donated a beautiful necklace from her jewelry design collection @ www.taralatisha.com and Ellen who donated a beautiful hand-made crocheted shawl.

Again, thanks for all your support.
